If you’ve spent any time in an RV park, you’ve probably spotted a Winnebago RV or two. In fact, you’ve probably seen them while traveling down the highway. They’re one of the most trusted RV names on the market, so it’s no wonder you’ve found yourself checking out our inventory of Winnebago models. Learn more about the company and then stop by Ryan’s RV Town near Seattle, Washington and we’ll show you some of these rigs up close and in person, including a wide selection of Winnebago motorhomes.
The beginnings of Winnebago industries date back all the way to 1958. It started with a California businessman looking to boost the economy in the town of Forest City, Iowa, but was quickly bought out by some native Midwesterners looking to start a travel trailer company. This was when the name Winnebago first appeared, as a partial reference to the Algonquian word for “People of the Dirty Water,” and also partially in honor of the county where the company is located.
The first Winnebago RV wasn’t launched until 1966 when the company released the 001. They were dedicated to making high-quality RVs for the average camper, so the first models were offered a much lower price than their competitors. But they also came with state of the art features, including RV-specific furniture and the “Thermo-Panel,” which was insulation that was both strong and lightweight, so campers could be efficient both in the park and on the road.
Today, their name is synonymous with high-quality RVs, from travel trailers to motorhomes, and have even garnered a little bit of celebrity attention, getting mentions in pop songs and movies, as well as from traveling politicians.
But Winnebago is about more than quality RVs. They want to create the ideal RVing experience for their customers, so they created the Winnebago International Travelers (WIT) Club. The WIT Club provides a plethora of benefits, including an annual Grand National Rally every summer in the founding home of Forest City. You can expect to enjoy lots of fun activities while also connecting with fellow RV owners who can give you tips and lasting friendships.
Ask just about any RV owner and they’ll tell you Winnebago has a reputation for excellence. Even if they don’t own one themselves, they know they’re quality investments. But don’t take our word for it. Stop by Ryan’s RV Town to view these awesome rigs yourself! We proudly serve Tacoma and Bellingham, Washington.
